Take me back...........

The wreath I maded for mother.

Memories My 80 year old father, me, baby brother and baby sister. Dad is losing more and more weight.
He is grieving himself to death. They would have been married 61 years in Oct. Mother was only 78 years young. She was shy two months to her 79 birthday.

This is one of the wreaths that I made for mother grave site. Gosh, How I miss her.

This year my husband and I took a trip to my fathers for my dad's family decoration; decoration is where all the family meets to decorate the graves of their love ones. It is on a Sunday and we have dinner and spend time with all the relatives at the grave site. This has been going on since I was a small girl and longer. This is Cumberland Gap Park, it is about 8 minutes from where my father and mother lived. As you know my mother passed away in March of this year.

I miss her so much as does my father and siblings.

The sun cast shadows on the mountains.

Looking down into the town of Middlesboro Ky.

Scenic area. This wall is new. I had gone there because some 15 years ago my mother and I carved out names in the wood that surround this area and I went back to find her name and it had been replaced with this rock.

So pretty here and peaceful. My mother loved to come up here.

Oops, I don't like to have my photo taken; this slipped in. I was thinking of mother here!
We hadn't taken a picture here years ago and I can't seem to find it.

Beautiful trees and rocks.

Looking down the mountain.

It was a perfect day for Steve and I had to take a hike in the park.

Steve, is a real history nut. He loves anything history; he should have been a teacher.

Another scenic view.

Thank you for stopping by.

Blossom

Oh, how my heart just breaks for you. My husband's family is from Alabama, so I know all about "Decoration Sunday" which is always the first Sunday in May there. Wayne and I have been married for over 14 years and I have yet to attend one, although I have seen pictures of that Special Day. I pray that God's love and comfort will get you through.

Anita!!! Good morning sweet lady! I missed you SSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! I can't tell you how I stopped in over and over to see if you posted in secret!
It is nice to see you in photos...and to see Steve....Now I know for a fact he is not just a pretty voice on the phone! lol (hi Steve!!!) The two of you make such a cute couple!
Now...as for the family decoration thing...I think that is one of the nicest things I have ever hear of in my life! Until I just read it I had never heard anything like it! What a great way to unite a family, and to respect those who passed!
Well....I am just going to phone you right now! I just missed you that much!

It sounds like you had a very bittersweet visit. But there was so much beauty around (those hills!), I hope you felt some sense of peace.

I so feel for your father. My Dad is plugging along~my mom has been gone 8 years. I wish your father all the best and am saying prayers for all of you.

xoxo

Blossom, I didn't know you had lost your mother. I am so sorry! God Bless you and your family thru this difficult time of grieving. I've heard about those decorating days. I think it's such a wonderful idea. You know, it's been a while since I've visited my sister's and father's graves. I think I'll head out there this weekend with some flowers! Thank you for sharing. I'm sending up a prayer for your father. God Bless, Lauralu
